Checked against the primary document on October 3, 2026. The library's summary, tags and figures for this record were compared with the regulator's own document by an AI model (Claude) following written instructions, with sampled and disputed records read a second time. A dash means the release did not state a figure we could extract, not that the figure is zero. Penalty and disgorgement are stored separately so aggregates across the library do not double-count the same dollars.

What is alleged to have happened

The Commission found that Unal Patel learned of the deal in a call from a friend at Southern, where he had once interned, told his cousin and housemate Amish, and that the two bought call options the next morning before the $431 million announcement. Unal made $7,321 and Amish $15,978.

Unal must pay disgorgement of $7,321, interest of $599 and a penalty of $14,642; Amish $15,978, $1,511 and $15,978. The stored figures are the sums; the earlier record showed only Unal's penalty and disgorgement.
