What is alleged to have happened

On September 28, 2018 the SEC accepted a settlement with COR Clearing, LLC, a clearing broker-dealer. The order finds that from January 2015 to June 2016 COR cleared sales of low-priced securities deposited in large blocks by customers of its introducing firms, and failed to file suspicious activity reports on a subset of those transactions, in violation of Exchange Act Section 17(a) and Rule 17a-8. It imposes a censure and an $800,000 civil penalty.

Unregistered distributions appear in the order only as the risk named in COR's own compliance policies and in a FINRA notice cited in a footnote. The order finds a reporting failure by the clearing firm and does not find that COR violated Section 5.

This library does not assign a technique tag to the matter, because no technique page in the current taxonomy describes the conduct the document records.
