Checked against the primary document on October 3, 2026. The library's summary, tags and figures for this record were compared with the regulator's own document by an AI model (Claude) following written instructions, with sampled and disputed records read a second time. In December 2025 the Securities and Exchange Commission announced a final consent judgment against Virtu Americas LLC, the broker-dealer, over the alleged failure from January 2018 to April 2019 to maintain and enforce policies preventing its proprietary traders from accessing customers' order information. Virtu Americas, without admitting or denying, was enjoined from violating Section 15(g) and ordered to pay a $2.5 million penalty; the claims against its parent, Virtu Financial, were dismissed. The case concerns information-barrier policies, not insider trading.

What is alleged to have happened

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced this judgment on December 3, 2025 as release LR-26427, in a Southern District of New York case filed September 12, 2023 and amended January 12, 2024; the court entered judgment on December 2, 2025.

The complaint alleged that the customer name, security, side, price and volume of orders were not adequately walled off from the firm's own trading. The SEC agreed to dismiss all other claims against Virtu Americas and all claims against Virtu Financial, Inc. with prejudice.

Everything on this page derives from the documents below. Where our summary and the primary document disagree, the primary document is right.

Same matter

The library links these 2 records because they appear to concern one matter: the same lead defendant, an overlapping technique tag and close filing dates, or a shared court docket or a release that cites the other. Records are listed by date filed.

This grouping is the library's, made by matching names, techniques, dates and citations when the site is built. It is not the regulator's or a court's determination that the records are one case, and it errs towards missing a link rather than making a false one.
