What is alleged to have happened
the Securities and Exchange Commission announced this matter on October 1, 2015 as litigation release 23374. The respondents named are Saleem Khan, Roshanlal Chaganlal, Ranjan Mendonsa and Ammar Akbari (4 individuals, 0 entities). The SEC alleges that Chaganlal, a finance director at Ross Stores, tipped his friend Khan, who traded ahead of the retailer's sales announcements and tipped colleagues Mendonsa and Akbari, in a ring that made millions of dollars between August 2009 and December 2012. On September 28, 2015 the court entered consent judgments against Mendonsa, ordering $614,375 in disgorgement, penalties and prejudgment interest combined, and against Akbari, ordering $2,202 in disgorgement and interest. The litigation continues against Khan and Chaganlal.
Because the release gives each amount as an unsplit total, the money fields on this record are left empty; an earlier version showed Mendonsa's combined total as disgorgement.
