In September 2016 the SEC sued three Peruvian traders, alleging they traded ahead of a mining-company tender offer on tipped inside information. In March 2017 the SEC reported that each had settled, with permanent injunctions, disgorgement of about $167,000 in total, interest and penalties for two of them. The release does not say who admitted what beyond Carrion's no-admit-or-deny settlement.

The technique tag is this library's own reading of the conduct the regulator describes; agencies charge statutory provisions, not technique names.
On March 24, 2017 the SEC reported (LR-23790) that the three defendants had settled and the Southern District of New York had approved the settlements. According to the release, Coppero del Valle was ordered to pay $53,607.70 in disgorgement plus $5,382.44 interest; Castro Roca $59,300.02 plus $5,514.97 interest and a penalty of the same $59,300.02; Carrion $54,144.10 plus $5,820.29 interest and an equal penalty. Each was also permanently enjoined. The figures recorded here are sums across the three. The release does not give the injunction provisions, and the entry dates of the individual judgments were not separately checked, so the release date is used. Checked on 2026-10-04.
