What is alleged to have happened
The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the judgments on June 1, 2022 as litigation release 25403; the court entered them on May 27 in the Central District of California.
The complaint alleged Pithapurwala tipped his brother-in-law Ammar, that the couple funded his trading with $20,000 sent through intermediaries, and that the men agreed to share profits. Alifiya was charged with aiding and abetting. Both consented to injunctions.
The stored penalty is the sum of both judgments; the earlier record showed only Pithapurwala's, and merged the three names. The release reports no judgment against Ammar.
