What is alleged to have happened
The complaint of April 1, 2015 alleged the defendants raised almost $32 million for loans to professional athletes and misled investors about the loans. Allen and Daub were each sentenced on March 1, 2017 to six years and $16.8 million in restitution. The November 17, 2017 judgment enjoins all defendants from antifraud violations.
The record had no money and listed only the lead name with "et al." This is the last of four records on this matter.
This library tags the matter as ponzi schemes because the document describes payments to earlier participants made from later participants' money. The tagging is ours, not the regulator's: agencies charge statutory provisions, not technique names.
Money note: the dollar amounts in this record's text describe the November 2017 final judgment; to avoid counting the same amounts twice, the money fields are left empty here and the figures are held on the record for the same case under release LR-23692 (sec-capital-financial-partners-llc-et-al-ponzi-schemes-2016).
