Perth accountant charged over alleged insider trading in Genesis Minerals shares (ASIC, 2024)
Alleged — pending
These are allegations. ASIC has filed an action; nothing in it has been proven, and the respondents have not been found liable. Everything described on this page is what the regulator alleges, not what a court has found. See our editorial policy.
Checked against the primary document on October 4, 2026. The library's summary, tags and figures for this record were compared with the regulator's own document by an AI model (Claude) following written instructions, with sampled and disputed records read a second time. No lawyer has reviewed them. A checked record can still contain errors, and checked does not mean endorsed. See how we check records or report a correction.
In December 2024 ASIC announced that Perth accountant Vittorio Letizia had been charged in the Perth Magistrates' Court with five counts of insider trading, alleging he bought Genesis Minerals shares on five occasions in September 2021 while in possession of inside information. ASIC's later notes record committal to the Federal Court of Australia and a three-week trial listed for 30 November 2026.

What is alleged to have happened
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission announced the charges in release 24-289MR after a court appearance on 20 December 2024; the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions prosecutes the charges, which arise under s1043A(1) of the Corporations Act.
The charged offence was punishable at the time by up to 15 years in prison, or alternatively a fine equal to the greater of $999,000 and triple the benefit. The release is updated through December 2025; no verdict is recorded.
For the regulator's own account of the facts, read the primary document linked above. This page deliberately summarises the structured record rather than reproducing the release.
Checked on 2026-10-04: no outcome found on ASIC pages. ASIC's release 24-289MR records committal in January 2025, committal to the Federal Court of Australia in November 2025, a pre-trial hearing set for February 16, 2026, and a three-week trial listed to start on November 30, 2026. No plea, verdict or sentence is recorded, so the charges remain unproven.
